#Threads (if it ever *actually* gets #ActivityPub support) means *institutions* — government organizations, NGOs, media orgs, whathaveyous — will have way stronger incentive to set up their *own* instances, allowing them to be followed and interacted with both from fedi* and from Threads.
*) I do not believe Threads will ever be a part of #Fediverse even if it does implement the protocol: fedi is *more* than just the protocol, it's a set of values.
