I both understand people's difficulty onboarding, picking an instance, and don't at the same time. For me, picking one wasn't tough but you and I and others here are probably more early adopters/tech experimenters. And some people just aren't. They'll keep hopping to whatever walled (or semi-walled) garbage that seems easier (Bluesky). But other people want out of all that crap.
