My house has a fireplace, but during the 1980s remodel the chimney was capped and the fireplace went electric.
I've considered converting it back but also during the refit they removed all of the windows ability to open. Not a moving window in the house.
Oh the plus side, no drafts. But if you smoke up the house you have a problem.
