I’ve seen a lot of articles like [Microsoft’s AI obsession is jeopardizing its climate ambitions](https://www.theverge.com/2024/5/15/24157496/microsoft-ai-carbon-footprint-greenhouse-gas-emissions-grow-climate-pledge ), so at least in some cases it seems to be really costly.
I also feel that generally so-called IA is a worsening of everything that’s wrong with capitalism and imperialism, including cost effectiveness, leveling down of quality, and (often forgotten) exploitation of global South workers; that’s why it’s an excellent example and every one of these flaws should called out together.
IMO it’s easy to understand why people tend to focus on the energy consumption, climate change is urgent and causing a lot of anxiety, but I don’t think it’s bad in itself?
