I adapted 'media deconstruction' to stuff I have to read for work.

I take a document, publication, procedure, standard, ... I select all & paste into a text editor & remove formatting.

I go sentence-by-sentence &, if necessary, I make a comment, note, lookup something, joke, ridicule author, point-out error, or I mind read...

I avoid reading forward first, and I avoid revising comments.

It's a record of my understanding as I read and that can change.
