Nostr New Year Predictions 2023 and 2024
Last year, I predicted that we'd see popular #Bitcoin node OS platforms launch #Nostr relays and clients in 2023. BOOM! Called it! This actually happened in the first half of the year. Every single one of these platforms added support for multiple Nostr clients and relays, allowing Nostriches to be truly sovereign over their social graph.
Do you run any of these applications on these platforms?
Looking ahead at 2024, I believe we'll see the following with Nostr:
1) Algorithms: From personalized feeds powered by a curated algorithm store to seamless trending and user discovery on all platforms, advanced algorithms will be instrumental in shaping the user experience.
2) Onboarding and Discovery: As Nostr's technical infrastructure stabilizes, the client focus will shift towards streamlined user onboarding and engagement strategies. This will include the implementation of well-defined onboarding flows and user retention programs across all popular clients.
3) Mainstream Success: A breakthrough moment for Nostr's 'Other Stuff' ecosystem is imminent! We'll see a strong contender emerge as a mainstream user favorite. This could be any of the established client applications such as Zap.stream, Flare.pub, Flockstr.com, or Yondar.me, or even a yet-to-be-unveiled application built upon Nostr. Who's building it?
4) Active Users: We'll hit 1M monthly active users. As clients become fine tuned and more robust, the user experience will retain user activity, allowing us to reach new highs, thanks to the success of Nostr's mainstream "Other Stuff" client mentioned above.
