Last week, AI-startup Luma posted a series of videos created using its new video-generating tool Dream Machine. However some of the results have raised questions as to how exactly it was created, and where the line between inspiration and plagiarism is drawn with AI.
One video in particular, a Dream Machine-generated trailer for “Monster Camp”, is stylistically reminiscent of Pixar’s Monster’s Inc., and at one point, a slightly AI-smudged but still recognizable Mike Wazowski, a character in the movie, appears in the background. Was the video trained on Pixar content, or fed a prompt for a Pixar style — and are the results ok, either way? Here’s more from [@theverge](https://flipboard.com/@theverge ).
