#publicartcommission
What excites me most about the projects I work on is receiving not just the samples, but also seeing the process of the images being produced and finalized. For me, this is the most thrilling moment because the journey—from receiving a commission to conducting research, creating samples, finding the right fabricator, tweaking the images, and refining every detail—takes so much time and effort.
Right now, I’m beginning to receive some of the finalized components. There are still steps ahead, like firing the images in the kiln, shipping them, and finally installing them, but the process is such a beautiful experience. It’s been two years since I began this commission, and it truly feels like giving birth to something meaningful.
This work will be permanently installed at the University of Washington in a building dedicated to interdisciplinary engineering. I’m so excited about it!
I wonder if you recognize any of the imagery—do any of the designs resonate with you? There’s a theme running through this piece that I’ll write more about in the future. #glasmalereipeters #artswapublicart #arcana #monikabravoarchive2024
