SOME FIGHT WITH TANKS, OTHERS KILL WITH STAMPS.
Between 1933 and 1939 Hitler and the Nazi regime implemented numerous legislative changes that imposed totalitarian control. He was fast but still used the salami method, each time removing more freedoms.
I found it interesting to look at them, vis-à-vis the recent increased censorship pressure and regulatory creep. Just something to ponder on, not to draw conclusions.
Each era has its own hitlers to deal with...
---
1. The Enabling Act (Mar 1933): Gave Hitler's cabinet the power to enact laws without parliamentary approval, effectively ending democracy.
2. Law for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service (Apr 1933): Excluded Jews and political opponents from civil service positions.
3. Law against Overcrowding in Schools and Universities (Apr 1933): Limited the number of Jewish students in public schools.
4. Denaturalization Law (Jul 1933): Revoked citizenship of naturalized Jews and "undesirables".
5. Law on Editors (Oct 1933): Banned Jews from editorial posts.
6. "Nuremberg Laws" (Sep 1935): Stripped Jews of German citizenship and prohibited marriages between Jews and non-Jews.
7. Reich Veterinarians Law (Apr 1936): Expelled Jews from the veterinary profession.
8. Law on the Alteration of Family and Personal Names (Jan 1938): Restricted Jews' ability to change their names.
9. Decree on the Elimination of Jews from German Economic Life (Nov 1938): Banned Jews from operating retail stores and other businesses.
10. Law on the Organization of National Labor (Jan 1934): Abolished trade unions and replaced them with the Nazi-controlled German Labor Front.
11. Hereditary Farm Law (1933): Prevented farms from being repossessed, benefiting farmers who supported the Nazi party.
