Bitcoin is simply a store of value that can be easily transferred between people. If you don't want to use it, that's fine, but it’s not going to harm you if you do. Nor is it going to break into your house at night and poison your fish tank.
It's the vehemence I don't understand; it's like hating TCP/IP.
