When all else fails, use a bigger wrench.
It took the 36" pipe wrench and the new deep well socket to get the crank shaft bolt loose, and it did so rather easy feeling compared to the effort I put in with the smaller tools. Now the trouble of getting the timing cover off has me stumped. I can't be breaking or bending anything so am trying to be very careful, but it is not wanting to play nice. Something is holding it up above the crank shaft.... maybe the seal? or the sealant on the bottom surface?
I'll work on it later and hopefully figure it out.
