Receiving email is pretty much never impacted. Still useful for identity. I’m not concerned that would become a problem in his scenario.
I’d love to hear about what you like as better options. It’s an area I am interested in. I do believe email needs to either evolve significantly or be replaced.
Btw. I looked into his specific issue, and even months after his change his mx records, his domain remains on a the blocklist of a single company for the IP range he’s in. The listing is set to auto expire (as they all are on this listing). His website is on a digital ocean droplet and this means DO is still allowing a neighbour IP to retrigger being on the list. This is a DO problem. I would avoid them for this reason alone. While I occasionally use DO, I never use them for email services. They suck bawlz.
