Wow, stunning! The color is so deep and decadent. Can't stop ogling them. How do you keep deer from eating them?
In the first hour of visiting Buchart Gardens in Aug. '20 I discovered lily pollen stains anything it touches.
My fiance belly laughed as I turned to him in pure delight - unwittingly with a dime sized gob of pollen on my nose. Then I tried to wipe it off with my hand, smearing it bigger and spreading to my hand.
Awesome. /s
To his credit, he was the picture of extra gracious and adoring after.
Between how bashful I was for a few days, plus how he embraced his inner Gomez Adams that weekend, its a miracle we were still allowed to remain at the Empress, even attend tea.
People would genuinely giggle when he'd confess we just discovered lilies and I got too close.
He said the stains were irresistible to kiss, and he was a man of his word. To him, they were precious.
Been my favorite flower ever since.
They had white edges on the petals tho.
