I don't use Telegram, as I don't trust their self-rolled encryption, nor do I find much of interest in the groups. Still, I join those disturbed by the news of CEO Pavel Durov's arrest in France, for what appears to be the "crime" of allowing unmoderated groups on his platform. No less than a tyrant would attempt to justify such a jackbooted arrest, nakedly attacking the free exchange of information.
The Internet has always been -- and will always be -- filled with bullsquash. The more the bullsquash, the freer the network. Thankfully, God gave you and me a brain by which to detect the nonsense, relying on nothing so trivial as a worldly power to play intermediary. The tyrants seeking to control expression will not -- cannot -- win.
