Sorry I am not sure what you mean? The study is proposing what is understood to be *the* mechanism of Turner's syndrome: dysfunctional Y chromosome resulting in an X0 zygote. I have never heard to a mechanism of dysfunctional X resulting in a X0 zygote. We find Y chromatin in X0 patients, so there isn't really any debate on the idea that some Turner's patients start at XY somewhere around the stage of zygote.

Yes the exceptions matter here, but I think the EO did a good job of picking the right set of exceptions so that they do not present any sort of dilema.
