I asked a prominent LLM if LLMs were just advanced statistical modeling and inference. It repeatedly told me it was not that simple. And called out my use of the word, "just" as "oversimplifying." Then I asked, how is it oversimplifying, and it basically said, you're right it is that simple. It's amazing how jacked up these models are with marketing speak. Look, I actually love LLMs because I'm a wordsmithing English major and get a real kick out of pretending I'm talking to Kit from Night Rider. But I'm just not seeing productivity gains that merit current levels of investment and hype. #LLM #AI #hype
