So, this conversation (in its many variations) mostly comes up at gatherings-of-authors for me, like conventions, and mostly it's about social buffering.
"OMG. Thing about publishing."
"You too? Me too!"
"Also me!"
"Cookie?"
"Cookie!"
Basically, it's the "do you want comfort, to workshop potential solutions, or are we just grousing?" thing, only with cookies/snacks/comfort stuff. (I don't drink.)
