If I set fee = 1ppm for all my channels with 0ppm fee (i.e. increase it by 1), there's more than two times decrease in traffic with these channels. Obviously, people in the #LightningNetwork strongly prefer completely free transactions : )
I advise all node operators to try set up 0ppm fee for all channels (except, of course, channels with sinking nodes!), even if only for one day. This can be an interesting experiment that will significantly increase your traffic (even without income) and clearly demonstrate the directions of the sats flows in the network. I think, it can give you a lot of interesting information.
