It's a challenge for me because I am actually really bad at helping people who moan and sigh and gripe a lot. Gripe about computers? Sure, let's you and me fight it! Tell me about all your terrible health issues and life problems? I'm just not emotionally suited for it and can't redirect well and then feel stricken. I went to the other room a lot to "check on a thing" and that helped me refocus. Part of what Mary needs is someone to understand her needs and I think I got that part.
