What's the deal with the Black Berkey filters?
Last I heard, some alphabet agency banned them for being impregnated with silver, and that Berkey was fighting in court to reverse it.
Now I see all of these white ceramic filters being sold in place of the Black Berkeys for about the same price but if memory serves, their lifespan (~500 gallons) is a small fraction of the black ones. Plus the dealer's description lists the white ones as also being impregnated with silver.
Was this whole thing just a work by Berkey to get people to replace their filters more often?
