asymmetric crypto is generally very popular (think about whatsapp or browser web), but intentional and sovreign encryption pgp-like is not known by masses. Nostr could be in the middle, as users need at some point realize that keys exists and do somewhat key-management; still the clients will encrypt/sign in a smooth way, without end users need to care.
