If you're on the iOS app and by that you mean Damus, they released an update today which allows profile edits. Also, yes the clients are just different implementations but the 'relays' do the actual work of transmitting the notes that you and other post. The 'Global' feed is availale on certain clients, but not on all others. It's a feature that needs to be introduced. Otherwise, you'll just see the feed of those whom you follow.
