Not quite understanding what you love about mobile platforms. "Linux" on the enterprise server is as grand as software gets, while any software on mobile is a slave. The way we all should be managing certs is DANE, but that's gone the way of the DoDo. My advice is to create a Fediverse node, prepare to migrate away from your 11k user-base, and become a proud and productive member of the Owner-operated Network we all love and support.
