I could not find a better reason to GTFO of NATO if I tried. So Germany is going to sign a "security pact" with Ukraine. Saying if either is attacked, they will defend each other (NATO lite).
Assuming there is some level of brains in this best case scenario would exclude the the current conflict.
NATO has entry requirements requiring all nations vote on entry of a new entrant. Now Germany goes off and forms it's own agreement with a European nation surrounded by NATO nations who have said NO.
Now if Germany is attacked let's be honest, it is an Article 5 situation, (unless say the US blows up a pipeline Germany is depending on). Meaning Ukraine is not needed by them at all, ever.
All this does is (best case) obligate Germany to future conflicts. So say this Russia shit ends some how. 10 years down the road some nation like Belerus gets into it with Ukraine, and Germany is obligated to defend Ukraine.
Well once Germany is in the war we are back to Article 5 level shit and WWIII.
Very little of the idiocy NATO does or the nations of it do outside NATO would happen if the US were not part of it.

How do you fix that? Take away the hired goon squad and when they have to fight their own fights, they start a hell of a lot less shit.
