I framed it that way mostly because you keep bringing it up, and I feel, as an educator, you feel you are educating here, but perhaps just let it go and do your thing and acccept that some people will always be scolds, but there are a lot of people that appreciate you, and that should be good enough? You won't change a culture by scolding the scolds. You will change it by just being you and proudly not going away. (I have no academic credentials to back this but I hope you get why I am saying it.)
