npub13ruqn3wt7y3kwssdfdwfgt9fuy8p4ge4tf3quxg8hwvnlyjc57wq0t67kn (npub13ru…67kn) when I first visited in 1989, there was no drinkable coffee in most of Australia. Most people drank instant stuff.
In Canberra was a guy named Augustin from Vienna, who served decent coffee in Gus' coffee lounge.
And when friends in Melbourne asked "coffee or tea" it was with the addendum "real coffee". She was Spanish and they had a Danish Bodum coffee maker.
Coffee has come a long way in Australia since then.
