I don't think it's on purpose. Most people come here and don't see anything because the idea that you need to follow about 200 people before it looks anything like twitter is a little ... hard to get.
We don't have a marketing team or addiction scientists to help them get hooked. Like most "coop" things you get out what you put in.
(whereas with corporate things they get you hooked like a dealer then take more than they give)
