#OTD 26 June 1918 A a member of our "greatest generation" was born. Lieutenant Robert Allen Brightfield was born in St. Louis, Missouri. During World War II he was a naval aviation instructor. He was an avid tennis player and met his wife through their shared love of ice skating. After his retirement, he went back to college and finished his degree. He died in 2012 at the age of 94, having been married for 62 years. He was my half-third cousin.
