Two lines which never meet appear on Euclid’s paper.
Lonely lines without designs, pointless, vapor.
With single new stroke, angle and direction.
Humanity’s mission, as concept, perfection.

Now raise your eyes to the sky and see. That star there! Destiny.
In your mind there is a line in time from where you are to where you want to be.

Set a course, as Magellan did; and countless unnamed.
Heroes or not, they chose their lot, and found lands, untamed.

Today it seems—GPS, laser beams—have mapped every mountain.
But remember, my friend, it’s not Euclid’s pen that counted.
He first explored, as his own sovereign Lord, the landscapes of his mind.
The one who looks out, without looking in, is he who is truly blind.

So, young one, there is so much yet to explore.
But beware, there be dragons off the shore.

Your greatest shame and blame remain and so you must prepare.
Because all your body’s youthful strength cannot meet you there.

But when you find nowhere to hide and the beasts are on your track.
Turn and smile, because you’ll see only yourself looking back.
