I also paid cash out of pocket in the US in the late 1990s / early 2000s, and that was significantly cheaper than out-of-pocket expenses if you were insured, since it meant the clinic didn’t have to hassle with the insurance company. Not anymore, though. The insurance companies have captured the market.",
