The "content" mindset is everywhere these days, but it's just so depressingly obvious in writing. I know that the games I play are products, that they're meant to make their creators money, but most of them still feel like something that somebody enjoyed making, that they were made for a reason other than making somebody's bank account bigger. With writing I basically don't see that anymore outside of fanfic circles, the only book I've seen over the last two years that didn't immediately strike me as a soulless, trendchasing cashgrab was Tactical's books.
