I am an admirer of John Singer Sargent, and I found the boosted video below, about his monumental “Gassed,” really interesting. He was so long dismissed, in his life and after, for his commitment to realism and his work as a society portraitist: it’s lovely to see the range and mastery of his work appreciated.
