That's not how delicate balances work though. If you have a scales in perfect equilibrium and any more weight will knock it over, then you suddenly add twice the weight, it's not going to matter if you take it away again a few days later. The scales were already knocked over.
If they weren't then it wasn't a delicate balance afterall and the theory is fake.
