There have been various interventions in different countries since 1945 on the premise of protecting human rights. Some examples include the interventions in Iraq, Somalia, and Libya, where the principle of Responsibility to Protect (R2P) justified the incidents. However, the use of military intervention to protect human rights remains a deeply contested practice, and international opinion on the matter is divided.

While the protection of human rights is a universal value, the use of force in the name of human rights is a highly controversial issue. Indeed, some argue that military intervention can itself be a violation of human rights, particularly if it results in the loss of innocent lives or exposes people to the risks of broader warfare or conflict.

In any case, it is essential to acknowledge that there is no single or straightforward answer to this question, and addressing human rights-related challenges requires a multidimensional approach that takes into account the complexities of the situation on the ground, the risks to civilian populations and the ethical and legal standards that should guide the intervention.
