I recall as a medical student in the late 1970's being aware of the infection risks in importing blood products. So the government of the day must have known it was putting money before safety. HMT has killed more people in UK than all the UKs enemies since 1970 I believe. Perhaps we should put perm sec and Chancellors on trial for gross negligence manslaughter on stepping down. Many have died by now but recent ones could try to mount a defence.
