I talked to a salesperson yesterday about videoconferencing software and near the end of our call they said: "You know, I support the work you're doing, it's important, I'm in Portugal and there are wildfires everywhere. Keep up the good fight." For context, I work for an NGO specialized in environmental law.
So this is smalltalk in the climate crisis. It's terrifying in a quiet way and nothing in my training has prepared me for it.
