The more congested the mempool is the more we may need to realize that some of the op codes being discussed will help improved and scale self custody for bitcoin
If mempool is full all the time, while it’s true it’ll push Lightning adoption, it’s also true that very high fees only make custodial Lightning the default for many which is not a desirable outcome
So we need to find a much longer term alternative with Validity proofs being one of them
With that, we can just have trustless bridges instead of federated bridges with sidechains pushing some of the activity out of layer one without losing security while at the same time still demanding space in L1 which adds to the l1 security budget in long run
