Feature idea: We should have a compose key and assigned sequences for all the accented and extended characters other than box-and-line-drawing ones. So, Compose-'-A produces Á, while Compose-s-o produces §, Compose-O-C produces ©, etc. This would go into the keyboard driver, so everything that reads the keyboard through the standard interface gets it.
