To be honest, the main reason was 'I had some lying around and it was suitable'. You don't have to use PC for something like this - ABS would do, honestly. You mainly want something stiff, heat-resistant (space heaters can get to 60+C on their surface) and creep-resistant. The heat requirements rule out PLA and PETG; ABS is less stiff than PC, and also smells a bit when first heated up, which ... didn't seem ideal.",
