It's absolutely stunning how many great games with late 90s retro graphics there are today and how stunning the designs are that people manage to produce with such limited options and technology.

It's not just for nostalgia. Creating such assets with modern tools is very fast, and as such very cheap compared to more modern graphics styles. Making it possible to make great looking games with small teams and little resources.

We really should have a term for it. It's not just retro.
