The colour for girls was bright blue for signalizing their virginity. These colours changed when Germany discovererd it's love for the marine and big vessels at the beginning of the 20th century. The newly discovered chemical process to produce indigo led to blue uniforms for the marine corps and also for boys (being the future soldiers. So, there was this radical change in colours
