I feel a strong sense of pride in being able to provide to my family. And not because of some weird societal pressure, but I just feel it inside me. It feels almost primal.
Since my wife and I had children, we knew very early on that we didn't want to be one of those families that had to send their children to childcare from an early age, while mum had to go back to work to make ends meet.
I feel for the families that feel they are forced to do this - that they need the double income just to make ends meet and survive, while entrusting the most precious years of their children's lives to a stranger or strangers.
For my wife and I, a traditional household is one that works best for us - I provide the house, and she makes it a home. We are a team and do it together.
My children are 5 and 4, and they have always had us as their primary care givers. At times it feels overwhelming and overbearing, but we wouldn't have it any other way.
I'm not a religious person, but sometimes I thank a higher power that bitcoin exists and has given us respite from the fiat money printer and constant debasing of our money, and allowed us to lower our time preference and look forward into the future as opposed to grinding day to day, week to week.
Thanks to HODL (npub1rtl…jtfs) for the inspo.
