A lot of anti-woke sentiment is an updated anti-PC sentiment is the icky feeling a certain kind of person has when confronted by new things after they get to a certain age. There's other stuff going on, but a chunk is just generational angst -- fear of death, in the end, as with many things that produce emotion and conflict.
