Unfortunately, it's not supported. See the bottom 4 rows on support table: image attachments. Mastodon even fails to parse the message entirely. 😡
My current plan is to create a "Recommended Media Attachments" page on funfedi.dev and include for video once my small version with 54kb and once the full hd one with size in the MBs. That way one can illustrate how the url property of media attachment ought to be used. Unfortunately, this would require quite a bit of convincing on Mastodon et al to support it.
Being able to only syndicate the lower resolution option across the entire Fediverse would also save bandwidth. I don't need to have the full hd image for every post. The sd one is good enough in most scenarios.
