Morning midlife musings.

When I was younger, I dreamed of living forever. I watched documentaries about the #longevity movement with Aubrey de Grey and imagined a future where we had conquered death.

Today, my perspective has shifted. I don't dream of immortality anymore; I believe it would only benefit the wealthiest among us, not the whole of humanity.

Time is the one true scarce commodity that's also somewhat equally distributed. Oldster said death is the great equalizer. While that's perhaps not entirely true, I believe allowing some to live "forever" would lead to far more power and wealth concentration at the top, and far less social and financial mobility for the rest of us.

Death isn't a disease to be cured but a necessary cycle of renewal. To progress, we must weed the garden of humanity, allowing new thoughts and ideas to grow. Otherwise, humanity would stagnate, with literal old weeds at the top choking the new, leaving us trapped in outdated traditions, habits, and ways of thinking.

What are your thoughts on this?
