The point however of this thread is that when I woke up from the nightmare in the middle of the night, I was able to reach a friend in a far-flung time zone, who hung out with me and chatted until I came down from the fight or flight responses and was able to get back to sleep.
I"m used to waking up alone from horrific nightmares and it was an absolute luxury to receive support and kindness for a change instead.
