Sure enough. An architect named Ken Kern wrote a book called The Owner Built Home close to 50 years ago now. He had traveled the world looking at how people built their homes. One thing he looked at was non-mechanical cooling and heating. Some houses were using evaporated water from tanks built as part of the porous house walls. A house in NC built in the 60s had only 10 degrees F variance with no heating or cooling year round.
