I am part of this. I'm still not 100% sure why, but, I can assure you that I love Gitcitadel because I love the people building things together for fun and for profit. I slay have faith that they are going to steamroll everyone else in the long-run.
Have you ever thought about that metaphor? I have. A steamroller is mostly a simple machine. It is heavy, by intention, to perform a very critical function of smoothing out a freshly paved surface. It is slow. It needs an operator that is aware of where it is and where it needs to go because it does not turn well. But, it is an essential step in making a road that is pleasant to drive on and also more durable. You see, it fits into Gitcitadel's modus operandi perfectly.
Most other nostr devs are frantically hacking trails through the jungle on their own. This has its own appeal, but, most people aren't going to want to put the effort into following that kind of path, no matter how many times they read a certain poetic phrase about a road less traveled. My compatriots at Gitcitadel have been building a road that will last, much like the much thought about Romans. (I assure you that most of us think about Rome daily. 😅) The beauty of doing things this way, doing the hard, unseen, thankless work, is that after that, the rest of you will greatly benefit from this. EVERYTHING will get better in the face of "stuff that just works." And, it will also look better, too, since UX and UI is central to how we build.
To sum up: Gitcitadel is building roads to places you want to go; slowly, but we will get there. Once we do, everyone else is going to have to stop acting like headless chickens because coolness does not, in fact, trump utility and reliability, outside of low-time preference pandering.
