I've recently finished both vaul of terra books and Valdor birth of the Imperium; all of those books are really good, i think they are above the rest mostly because they focus on rare aspect of the Imperium (being the time between the conquest of terra and the conquest of the solar system for exemple)
I really advise them if you can get them tbh !
