job control and console management do a lot and it's not completely obvious at first sight. Who knows what setsid and setpgid do without looking at manpages? Who knows what a session leader is besides low level system programmers? The simplicity AND the efficiency of these simple identifiers is AMAZING. Yet this was coded once and for all and is now doing a lot of work far from the spotlights. Tbh I only discovered that only by coding an unix. It's completely hidden in plain sight.
